Do SFIers need a private website?
By reading through Johan's thread you may have realized that Johan's business was built on free classified ads. What you should also keep in mind is that tracking your results is extremely important. However, you don't need a private website to do this. Whenever you get a Prospect, SFI will send you the keycode that your new prospect registered with (if you had put a keycode on your url, that is). So you WILL be able to track where your sign ups come from with your SFI gateways. What you will not be able to track is traffic (how many people are visiting your gateway). I assure you, you don't need this information if you are advertising on free sites. Why would you care if 1,000 people clicked on your Gateway if none of them signed up. What you want to know is whether prospective customers are visiting this particular site you are advertising to. Well, you'll know that, if after a month nobody signed up through that site. This is even more important with Pay per Click Search Engines (PPCs - we'll talk about them later). At this stage you should know that most successful affiliates are using them, when they have created a budget. If you use your own site, there is no way of tracking where the sign up comes from. You can only see where the “hit” came from, with Hitbox or the Sitemeter, as Johan describes, but you cannot check for sign ups and Hitbox is no longer a free tool! With PPCs this is not a comfortable situation, because you may get loads of traffic from a keyword that is not producing sign ups (like the word “jobs”) and pay foolish money because you are impressed with the traffic! Whereas there are keywords creating less traffic and more sign ups (for example, "home based business"). In this sense, a new site or a new domain name in the hands of a newbie may produce negative results. Hence, don't be afraid of using your ugly SFI urls online! Most sites don't show them anyway, because urls are often hidden and clickable behind ad titles. Doesn't Johan know this? Why is he suggesting you create a site? I will elaborate on this later on when discussing submissions to the major SE. At this point, you don't need knowing more than a few things that I will mention very rapidly: 1) All SFI affiliates focus on increasing Total Sales Volume. To this end, they try helping each other SELL to their existing affiliates. 2) Finding affiliates (prospects) is another story. We are all a bit competitive to each other. You will therefore, not easily find real Goldmines on the Sfidboard. But you will find The Way To Go and in that sense, our board is truly invaluable. Sometimes people may tell you “half of the story” and this is understandable, very human. With experience, and my help, you will learn how to extract the whole truth by yourself. 3) The only person in SFI DIRECTLY and TRULY interested in YOUR success is your Sponsor and your PTL. If you didn't know it yet, yes, that's my Highness, by the way -:) If I am only your PTL but not your Sponsor - don't worry, you can still contact me in just the same way. I depend on my affiliates’ success, after all! |
